I'm building a computer for my friend (as some of you in the tech support forums know =P), and I decided last minute to mod it a little. I had an old case lying around to throw all his components in, but when a mutual friend of ours called it boring, I knew something had to be done. I quickly went to the garage and found a near-new can of red glossy paint, and one near-new can of gloss. This could work! I ran out and bought a roll of painters tape and got to work today. I needed a simple design, so I pondered for 30 seconds with a piece of paper and came up with this. I hope you like it, I should have this mod completed by Sat. 12/23/06. He arrives back that date, so I may be given a day or two more to finish this bad boy up, but it's all mods now. I finished all the work on the machine itself tonight...
Here it is (I'm glad I left my dremel in Santa Cruz, the insides must be hidden from all eyes!)
Now I don't have a whole lot of paint to work with, so I felt some stripes will add enough zest without costing me more paint.
Here's my whole design layout
As you can see I only had time to paint one panel today. It came out as well as I expected it to, bearing only slight imperfections (possibly due to the cold climate). I'm going to wetsand all these bad boys before I gloss them, so I'll be able to sand those edges super smooth. You can still see some pencil here and there as well....all will be dealt with after the paint has cured.
And here's a closeup of the top. I just thought this thing up tonight after deciding straight lines on the top would make this thing even uglier than it already is. I hope these turn out well, they'll be much tougher to touch up with sandpaper. I do have some spraypaint remover in the garage as well, so if it turns out horrible I can always strip er down and try again. I have high hopes right now though
So there it is. This has been one days work. I just gotta let the paint cure and I can start sanding it down and glossing it. I'm even thinking about purchasing some new rubbing compound here to bring back to use on Project Cheese (yes yes, it will be completed soon after my return to Santa Cruz). The rain really made me sad, and caused me to waste my last couple days in Santa Cruz. Expect to see alot from me within the quazi-near future, as I am going to start a new mod right when I finish up project Cheese. This next one is going to be one to keep an eye out for...so.....uh....keep an eye out for it.
