This project was a birthday present for a close friend of mine, Nick Green. He has a great love of the tv show "Invader Zim", so he requested a gir themed mod. This was no problem for me, as I share a similar passion for the show. I gave me complete creative freedom, so I sketched out my plans and started asap.
He purchased this case to go along with his new computer, so the first step was to remove the components
I then taped off and measure the top cuts. Hole saws make quick work of 120mm holes if you prep properly.
Like I said...quick work! There is really nothing as accurate as a hole saw cut either. With a little sanding, these holes are near machine perfect.
Here I have set up a semi-windproof barrier to aid my painting. Wind is a difficult thing to work with while painting, but, living in a beach town has taught me to cope.
All primed and ready for some color.
The purple is deep and glossy.
Here I am glueing down the mesh behind the right panel. You can see Gir there already cut out and ready to show off his beauty. I had to maike sure that the inside of this panel was painted as well due to a window on the other side.
I have just etched gir in the plexi for the left side. Lookin good :]
Here the case is nearly comlete, and is just waiting on a few more mods.
Here I have taken all the parts out and have cut a hole in the bottom as well as added wheels. It's done!
After adding the parts, the project is complete. Here are the final showcase pics!
I hope you enjoyed reading about this project and I hope Nick continues to enjoy it for a long time
